CONVERSATIONS AT THE KITCHEN TABLE
an archiving project
This editorial project explores the kitchen as a communal space through an archive of conversations and photographs.
The kitchen exerts a special pull and fosters an energy of connection. It is where deep conversations are had in the late hours of a house party and social bonds are formed and strengthened through the cooking and sharing of meals.
The archive combines photographs of the kitchen and its objects with fragments of recorded conversations - from the meaningful to the seemingly trivial - capturing both tangible and intangible elements of social life. It offers insight into the deeply personal yet universally shared experience of gathering around food.
The book finally consists of two parts: The first part interweaves photographs and conversation fragments, reflecting the natural flow of social interactions as well as the content and mood of the conversations. The second part serves as an index, offering a new perspective on the main content.
