ARCHIVE
conversations at
the kitchen table
an archiving
project
This editorial project explores the kitchen as a communal space through an archive of conversations. Inspired by the stories of the cutlery in the kitchen of shared flats, project evolved into a deeper reflection on time spent together in the kitchen. More than just a functional space, the kitchen fosters connections through food, shared experiences, and conversations.
The archive combines photographs of the kitchen and its objects with fragments of recorded conversations over meals, capturing both tangible and intangible elements of communal life. It offers insight into the deeply personal yet universally shared experience of gathering around food.
The final archive takes the form of a two-part book: The first part interweaves photographs and conversation fragments, reflecting the natural flow of social interactions. A continuous text at the bottom unfolds entire scenes, evoking the rhythm of spoken dialogue. The second part serves as an index, offering a new perspective on the main content.
